When starting a new class, please
1. Send a welcome video home to the students’ families (sample here). The components you should include are:
-
Class Context: your start date, one thing you know about the class’ past, one thing you’re excited for the class to do in the future
-
Your background: How long you’ve been with Synthesis or been teaching + something the students will find interesting
-
Build relationships: 1-2 interesting tidbits about you personally + invite parents to email you.
2. If you're taking over a class from another teacher, ensure the transition for the students is seamless.
- If the class is taught solo (i.e., you will not have a co-teacher), you should join the former teacher for their last session to smoothen the transition.
- If the class is co-taught, you should teach your first session once the former teacher has left alongside the consistent co-teacher
